What is Asbestosis?

Asbestosis is a respiratory disease caused by exposure to and inhalation of asbestos fibers. Of the several lung diseases that are caused by asbestos exposures, this one targets men more than women. It’s also called Idiopathic interstitial pneumonitis.

Symptoms of asbestosis are similar to those of mesothelioma, a lung cancer associated with asbestos. In fact, mesothelioma is a complication that can arise in patients with asbestosis.
