Texas Couple Suing 46 Companies Citing Asbestos Exposure
Friday, August 29th, 2008Tommy and Jacqueline Davis filed a lawsuit in Jefferson County District Court on August 26th after Mr. Davis was allegedly exposed to asbestos while at work and subsequently developed asbestos-related cancer.
The lawsuit names 46 corporations, including A.W. Chesteron, an international manufacturer of hydraulic and maintenance products. The Davis’ suit does not include dates or locations of Mr. Davis’ employment, but states that he did work with machinery that may have contained asbestos.
The suit claims that “defendants knowingly conspired among themselves to cause defendant’s injuries, diseases, and illness and/or death by exposing him (Mr. Davis) to asbestos.” The Davis’ are seeking damages for “physical pain and suffering in the past and future, mental anguish in the past and future, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, disfigurement in the past and future, physical impairment in the past and future, and past and future medical expenses, including homecare costs.”
As with several other related lawsuits that have been filed recently in Illinois and Michigan, the Davis’ suit alleges that the defendant corporations “conspired” in an effort to hide incriminating asbestos information.
